Announces the seminary won its lawsuit against Dr. Murdock whose dismissal now paves the way for E. R. to join the faculty. Relates the controversy which Mr. Quincy's appointment as Pres. of Harvard has engendered among the Unitarians. Asks E. R. to purchase specific books for the library. He and Mrs. Stuart send "love to the 'stranger-lady' whom we hope to have an opportunity of regarding as neither a stranger nor an alien," a reference to E. R.'s wife Thérèse.
