R. request for information about revivals and the state of religion in the region. Adams indicates that "at our monthly concerts it was not uncommon to hear of revivals in 30 or 40 different places in the U.S." Recently that number has greatly diminished, due in part to the increased activity "from Rome for the propagation of the Catholic faith." He discusses the differences between the Catholic priests and Protestant ministers with respect to theological education and knowledge. Mentions that Andover Seminary was "never in so flourishing a condition, with 125 students," and that the dismissal of Dr. Murdock did nothing to diminish the seminary's prestige.
