R. had written to Baldwin asking many questions about the value and resale possibilities of the Ohio lots and this letter attempts some very detailed answers. For example, Mills explains the soil is good for grazing or grain, timber is very fine (whitewood, black walnut, cherry, butternut, chestnut, oak, hickory, etc.), taxes are $14 per annum, and land in the region is selling from $2.50 to $6 per acre. Mills, however, is not very optimistic about selling the lots at a profit in the present real estate market. [contains a second letter; see below]
