At a meeting of the commissioners from the society in Scotland for
propagating Christian knowledge, Ltd November 3 1791 Voted, To desire Mr.
Kirkland to employ Mr. Ebenezer Calkin as a schoolmaster in the Oneida
country, and to engage that he shall receive from the society the sum of
twenty pounds lawful money, for his services during six months, for which
term only he is to be engaged. Attested Peter Thacher , Secretary
