R. that he has been awarded one of the Royal Geographical Society's gold medals, of which two are given annually, for his Biblical Researches in Palestine. Tells him that he had been asked by the Society to "receive the medal as your representative." He did so and now is forwarding the medal to New York. Indicates that E. R.'s work "enjoys a very enviable reputation."
