Explains that several persons have expressed interest in purchasing the (Kirkland) farm with a view to divide it into small parcels between them. "They offer $2200, payable in annual payments of $500." Williams states that up to this point it would not have been possible to get more than $2000 for the farm because real estate prices had decreased. If "the village continues to thrive and our college flourish, and in addition the Chenango Canal be constructed, then real estate in this place will doubtless increase." Enclosed with the letter was a draft for $500.
