" Asks that a "proper certificate of the day on which the work was really published in America, so that we may be prepared in case of a reprint on this side to prove priority of publication here. We are about trying the question whether American authors have copyright in this country, in the case of Mr. Washington Irving's works, & we hope to succeed."
